Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This policy explains what personal data we collect through aiatemybrain.com, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. We have written it in plain English because that is the only kind worth reading.

Who we are

This website is operated by David Thomas, author of AI Ate My Brain. For the purposes of data protection law, David Thomas is the data controller.

What data we collect and why

We collect personal data in two ways on this website.

Mailing list sign-up. If you submit your email address to join the early reader list, we collect your email address only. This is processed via Mailchimp. We use it for one purpose: to notify you when the book is available. We will not use it for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

Story submissions. If you choose to share your experience of AI through our submission form, we collect the following:

Story submissions are collected via Tally and used solely to inform the research and narrative of AI Ate My Brain. Nothing you submit will be shared with any third party.

How we use your data

We will never sell your data.

We will never share your data with third parties for marketing, research, or any other purpose.

We will only use your data for the purpose for which you provided it.

Your email address on the mailing list will be used only to send you a notification when the book is published, and any updates you have explicitly opted in to receive.

Your story submission will be used only to inform the content of AI Ate My Brain. If your account is included in the book in any form, you will be contacted beforehand for confirmation, and your stated preference on anonymity will be respected in full.

Our legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of your consent. You provide your data voluntarily, for a specific stated purpose. You may withdraw that consent at any time.

We do not process any special category data. We do not make automated decisions based on your data.

Third-party services

We use two third-party platforms to collect and store data:

Neither platform is authorised to use your data for their own marketing purposes beyond what is required to operate the service.

How long we keep your data

Mailing list data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Story submission data is retained for the duration of the book's research and writing process, and no longer than is necessary for that purpose.

Once the book is published and the research process is complete, submission data will be reviewed and any records no longer needed will be deleted.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the following rights:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

To request deletion of your data or exercise any of your rights:

enquiry@aiatemybrain.com

We will delete all records upon request, without delay and without requiring you to give a reason.

Cookies

This website does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. If third-party services such as Mailchimp or Tally set cookies as part of their operation, those are governed by the respective platform's own cookie policy.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively change how we use data you have already provided without informing you directly.

Questions

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please get in touch.
